Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Saturday that Rahul Gandhi is not only insulting the Indian Army but also damaging the country's image. He slamed the Congress leader for his remarks on China and the Army. "Yangtse area in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh is fully secured now due to adequate deployment of the brave jawans of Indian Army," he said. Tawang, where a border clash recently took place, is part of Mr Rijiju's Lok Sabha constituency. He visited in Yangtse area also.
BJP said that the Congress should expel him from the party. President J P Nadda accused him of speaking the language of China and Pakistan. "This underlines the question mark about his patriotism. He had also questioned surgical strikes and Balakot air strikes. It is a reflection of his metal bankruptcy," Nadda said as a number of senior party leaders seized on the former Congress president's comments to target the opposition party which is seeking some sort of political revival with Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said if Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is not "remote-controlled" and if the opposition party stands with the country, then Gandhi should be expelled for his comments as they "belittle" India and break the morale of its armed forces.
The BJP in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday staged a protest here against Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto's "highly shameful and derogatory" comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A party leader said an effigy of the Pakistani minister was burnt in the state capital. "Thousands of BJP workers marched from the Uttar Pradesh BJP office to the Atal Chowk (in Hazratganj), and raised slogans against Bilawal Bhutto. The party workers, under the leadership of state BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, also burnt an effigy of the Pakistani foreign minister,"
