President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday began her five-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, receiving a warm welcome at Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Governor Mangubhai Patel and senior state officials. The visit, scheduled from June 18 to June 22, will see the President participate in a series of programmes focused on tribal welfare, healthcare, education, spirituality, wildlife conservation and fitness across multiple districts of the state.

Welcoming the President, Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh, known for its rich cultural heritage, traditions and artistic legacy, was honoured to host her during the multi-day visit. The President’s tour is being viewed as an important engagement that highlights several key social and developmental priorities of the state.Soon after arriving in Indore, President Droupadi Murmu departed for Betul, where she is scheduled to attend the “Empowerment of Tribal Society by Spiritual Awakening” programme organised by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya. The event aims to promote social upliftment and empowerment among tribal communities through spiritual and value-based initiatives.
According to agency reports, later in the day, the President will travel to Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the country’s 12 revered Jyotirlingas, where she will stay before participating in official engagements over the next two days.On June 19, President Murmu will attend a programme marking International Sickle Cell Anaemia Day. The event holds particular significance for Madhya Pradesh, which has a large tribal population and continues to address the challenges posed by the disease through awareness, screening and treatment initiatives. The programme is expected to showcase the government’s efforts to combat sickle cell anaemia in vulnerable communities.
Following the event, the President will travel to West Bengal before returning to Madhya Pradesh on June 20. She is scheduled to arrive in Jabalpur and participate in the state’s International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21. During her visit to the city, she will also attend the 36th convocation ceremony of Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya as the chief guest and is expected to address graduating students and faculty members.Thereafter, President Murmu will travel to Gwalior and proceed to Kuno National Park in Sheopur district. On the final day of her visit, June 22, she is scheduled to tour the national park before returning to Gwalior and departing for New Delhi.
