President Droupadi Murmu visited the Statue of Unity at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district on Thursday to pay homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. She was accompanied by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Protocol Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma. Upon arrival, the President was warmly welcomed by the tribal communities of Sagbara and Tilakwada with traditional dances such as Movi and Holi. During her visit, President Murmu paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel, honoring his significant role in unifying India. She explored the premises of the Statue of Unity, where she was informed about Patel's contributions to the nation's independence and his efforts in integrating 562 princely states into a united India.
The President also appreciated the scenic views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam and the surrounding natural beauty from the viewing gallery.According to information,the visit included insights into the construction and architectural significance of the 182-metre-tall Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Patel.
The President was accompanied by key officials, including SSNL Chairman Mukesh Puri, Collector S.K. Modi, Superintendent of Police Prashant Sumbe, and SOU CEO Yajeshwar Vyas. Her visit coincided with the auspicious occasion of Mahashivaratri, making it a memorable event for the region.
