President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday said that the development of tribal communities and the development of the nation are complementary to each other. Addressing a function organised in Ambikapur city of Chhattisgarh on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the President said that the contribution of tribal communities forms a glorious chapter in the history of India. She stated that tribal culture is our heritage and identity, and it is our duty to preserve it.

During the ceremony, the President honoured tribal community leaders, as well as the family members of heroes of tribal uprisings and freedom fighters. She also felicitated the winners of folk dance competitions organised as part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations. The event was attended by Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister of State Durga Das Uike and several other public representatives.
