PM Modi lands in Rome, to meet Italian PM Meloni

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday landed in Italy, where he will be meeting his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella, and discuss with them ways to boost India-Italy cooperation. Modi, who is on a four-nation European tour, arrived at Rome from Norway. He was received at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani. This is the final leg of his five-nation tour. 
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit comes amid growing momentum in India-Italy relations, with both countries implementing the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029. "India and Italy share a longstanding and multifaceted partnership. The visit is set to add new momentum to the India-Italy partnership," MEA said. The roadmap focuses on cooperation in areas including trade, investment, defence and security, clean energy, innovation, science and technology, and people-to-people ties. The MEA said bilateral trade between India and Italy reached 16.77 billion US dollars in 2025, while cumulative foreign direct investment from Italy stood at 3.66 billion US dollars between April 2000 and September 2025.
PM Modi had previously visited Italy in June 2024 to attend the G7 Summit. PM  Modi on Tuesday concluded his visit to Norway after participating in the third India-Nordic Summit in Oslo and departed for Rome on the next leg of his five-nation tour.
