Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated SEMICON India 2026 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Delhi, where he interacted with participants and industry representatives at the three-day event.Being held from September 17 to 19, SEMICON India 2026 focuses on industry engagement, policy direction and international partnerships under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”

The event is jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and global industry body SEMI.The convention features more than 600 exhibitors, including around 300 international companies, across a 15,000-square-metre exhibition area. It also brings together more than 150 speakers, six country pavilions and 12 state government pavilions, along with dedicated spaces for startups, student hackathons and workforce development.
The event will showcase India’s progress in semiconductor manufacturing under the Semicon India Programme. The Union government has approved 12 semiconductor projects, with three units approved under Semicon 1.0 having commenced commercial production. The Union Cabinet has also approved Semicon 2.0, structured around six core pillars.Electronic design automation tools have been extended to more than 400 academic institutions and 105 startups, while 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive scheme.
MeitY said SEMICON India 2026 adopts a comprehensive value-chain approach, covering semiconductor materials and manufacturing, advanced packaging, design, electronics and systems.A new “Sand to Silicon to Systems” Value Chain Experience will provide visitors with an integrated view of the semiconductor ecosystem and highlight India’s capabilities across different stages of the value chain.The Startup Pavilion will showcase around 40 startups, while the Workforce Development Pavilion will focus on talent, skills and career opportunities in the microelectronics sector.The event provides Indian and international companies an opportunity to explore partnerships, investments, technology collaborations and supply-chain linkages, strengthening India’s role in the global semiconductor ecosystem.Major global and domestic participants include ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Ebara, Jabil, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Merck KGaA, Rapidus, Lam Research, CG Power, Uno Minda, Advantest and Tokyo Electron, among other industry leaders.
