PM Modi holds bilateral talks with Russian President Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation in political, economic, defence, energy, space, skill mobility and people-to- people domains. During their bilateral talks in Delhi, the two leaders also shared perspectives on key regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region. Prime Minister Modi once again reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy was the way forward in resolving conflicts and India stood ready to assist in peace efforts. PM Modi presented President Putin with a Russian translation of the Thirukkural, which carries the eternal wisdom of the great Thiruvalluvar across languages and borders.

Delivering opening remarks at the event, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said greater economic activity and economic security within BRICS would contribute to greater self-reliance, while stressing the need to strengthen business ties, diversify commercial relationships and build resilient supply networks. 
External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that the two leaders agreed to remain engaged in an effort to strengthen further the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The Partnership continues to register significant growth and has shown resilience in the backdrop of geopolitical uncertainties.
President Putin invited PM Modi to visit Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit. PM Modi accepted the invitation, with the dates of the summit to be finalised through diplomatic channels according to mutual convenience.
