PM inaugurates elevated Port Corridor in Guwahati

In Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated an elevated road corridor connecting Pandu Port to National Highway-27 and launched multiple inland waterways projects worth ₹526 crore in Assam aimed at strengthening logistics, tourism and connectivity along the Brahmaputra River. The projects are being implemented by the Inland Waterways Authority of India under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to boost infrastructure on National Waterway 2.Designed to bypass urban congestion in Guwahati, the corridor will improve cargo movement to and from the port while reducing logistics costs for traders and businesses. The projects are expected to enhance trade, tourism, skill development and regional connectivity, strengthening the role of inland waterways as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly transport system in the Northeast. PM Modi also released 22nd installment of PM-KISAN scheme to over 9 crore farmers across country. Under the scheme more than Rs4,09,000 crore has been distributed so far through DBT.

The Prime Minister handed over 28,000 land pattas to tea garden workers, kicking off phased distribution to 3.5 lakh families in 800+ tea gardens.The Tea garden communities- Assam's economic backbone, producing over 50% of India's tea – lived in labour lines as outsiders for centuries and successive Govts, over decades ignored their aspirations.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for cruise terminals at Bishwanath Ghat in the Biswanath district and Neamati in the Jorhat district.
