Congress leader Rahul Gandhi welcomed the Supreme Court's order to form a committee to look into the Pegasus spyware row, saying the opposition's stand on the issue is "vindicated" since the judges have flagged the same concerns. He was addressing a press conference hours after the SC decision on Pegasus. “Pegasus is an attempt to crush Indian democracy. Pegasus is an attack on the country and the country’s institutions. I am confident that the Supreme Court committee will get the truth out,” Rahul Gandhi said.
The Congress leader also asked the BJP-led central government to answer "which agency bought Pegasus". He said, "During the last Parliament session, we raised the Pegasus issue. Today, the Supreme Court has given its opinion and supported what we were saying." We protested, but no reply. We stopped Parliament, but we still did not get a reply. Now our stand is vindicated. So, our questions remain the same," Gandhi said. He added, "We were asking three questions, who authorised Pegasus, who was it used against and did any other country have access to information of our people?"
