Pahalgam incident was attack on 'insaniyat & Kashmiriyat': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off a Vande Bharat train service between Katra and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, the first train connection between the Kashmir valley and the Jammu region. Modi inaugurated the train in the presence of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, among others. PM Modi also inaugurated the Chenab railway bridge, the world’s highest rail bridge, marking a historic milestone in India’s infrastructure journey.
Later, addressing a gathering in Katra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Chenab, Anji bridges will serve as gateways to prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir. Modi said, unfortunately, our neighboring country is not only against humanity but also against tourism. It is a nation that actively works against the livelihoods of the poor. The incident that occurred in Pahalgam on April 22 is a clear example of this. Pahalgam incident was attack on 'insaniyat and Kashmiriyat'. It aimed at triggering riots in India. That is why it targeted the tourists," PM Modi said.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called the railway link to Kashmir "another gem that has been added to Jammu and Kashmir". There were great challenges in its construction... Instead of trying to conquer nature, working in harmony with nature, this railway line has become a reality today through this network of bridges and tunnels, he said.

According to Northern Railway, the train has two travelling classes -- Chair Car (CC) and Executive Class (EC) -- with tickets costing Rs 715 and Rs 1,320, respectively.
