The govrnment has held the opposition responsible for the scuffle that broke out in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, denied allegations and accused the Opposition of staging 'drama' and insulting democracy. in a joint conference in New Delhi, eight union ministers lashes out the opposition for "disruptive and threatening behaviour" that forced Parliament to close two days early. Countering allegations that "outsiders who were not part of Parliament security were brought in to manhandle opposition leaders and members, including women MPs", union minister Piyush Goyal said that there were 12 lady marshals and 18 men. They were not outsiders. Their figures are wrong. Allegations of the Opposition are wrong. The way the lady marshal was manhandled by two MPs from Congress... the way they tried to pull the male marshal by his neck... it was a shameful disgrace," he said.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur has said the Opposition should seek forgiveness from the country and not shred crocodile tears. The people of this nation gave the government a duty... to find solutions for their concerns. But we all have seen how the opposition has been totally disruptive in not letting Parliament function, he said.
Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi held the Opposition responsible for the deadlock in Parliament. He said, "It is most unfortunate that from the first day of all-party meeting indications were there that we won’t allow the House to run. It was made amply clear by TMC and Congress this session is meant for washout. "We had to take a decision to end the monsoon session early because, and I am quoting the opposition was literally threatening that if we attempt to pass other bills (after the OBC and Insurance bills) there will be even more serious damage in Parliament," he said.
"If Rahul Gandhi says no discussion was allowed... how there was a discussion on Covid... on the OBC bill.... when it suits them they will allow the House to function, else hold it hostage," Goyal said. The Opposition has put a question mark over what is the picture of Parliamentary democracy we want to show our youth and countrymen. They couldn’t decide one issue they wanted to discuss. One party wanted one thing, another party wanted another thing," Piyush Goyal said.
