The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)has issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah University in Faridabad for displaying false accreditation on its website. The Notice stated that the Al-Falah University is neither accredited nor validated for Cycle One for Assessment and Accreditation. It said that the University publicly displayed on its website that it is an endeavour of Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which has been running three colleges on the campus. The council said that this information is absolutely wrong and misleading the public, especially the parents, students and stakeholders. The NAAC has sought an explanation and directed the university to remove the NAAC accreditation details from its website and any other publicly available or distributed documents. The Council has asked the university to respond within 7 days from the receipt of this show-cause notice. The University is reportedly under scanner in connection with the Delhi blast case.
In the notice issued on Thursday, NAAC said it had verified that Al-Falah University “is neither accredited nor has ever applied for accreditation,” yet the university’s website prominently states that three colleges under the Al-Falah Charitable Trust — including the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology (since 1997) and the Al-Falah School of Education & Training (since 2006) — had been “Graded A by NAAC.”
NAAC accreditation is a critical quality benchmark in Indian higher education, influencing student admissions, staff recruitment, research grants, and regulatory approvals. Falsely claiming top-grade accreditation is a serious violation under UGC norms, as it can mislead students and give an institution an unfair competitive advantage.
