On the last day , several leaders filed their nominations for Rajya Sabha election on Thursday. In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, BJP president Nitin Nabin, Shivesh Kumar and Upendra Kushwaha filed their nomination papers in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the office of Assembly Secretary Khyati Singh. Kumar announced his decision to enter the Rajya Sabha earlier in the day, bringing the curtains down on his tenure as the longest-serving CM of the state.

Some JD(U) workers protested outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna, expressing opposition to his possible move to the Rajya Sabha. They said people had voted in the 2025 Assembly elections in the name of Nitish Kumar and urged him not to shift to Delhi.
In West Bengal, TMC's Rajya Sabha candidates Koel Mallick, Menaka Gurswamy, Rajeev Kumar and Babul Surpriyo filed file their nominations for the Rajya Sabha 2026 elections in Kolkata.

In Tamil Nadu, the DMK has given one more seat to ally Congress and Christopher Tilak filed nomination for the 2026 Rajya Sabha elections.The ruling DMK candidates Tiruchi Siva and J Constantine Ravindran filed their nomination papers for the biennial election to the Rajya Sabha. Also and DMDK treasurer L K Sudeesh submitted their papers before the polling official at the Secretariat in Chennai.
In Odisha, the state unit BJP President Manmohan Samal and BJP leader Sujeet Kumar file their nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections in the presence of Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubneshwar.
