Nitish Kumar announces seat sharing deal between JDu & BJP

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said that his party Janata Dal (United) will contest Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 from 115 seats. Addressing a press conference, Nitish Kumar said that as part of the seat-sharing formula reached by the National Democratic Alliance partners, the JD(U) has been given 122 seats, out of which it will give seven seats to Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha.The BJP has been allotted 122 seats. From its quota, the BJP will allot a few seats to the Vikassheel Insaan Party, the Bihar CM said.

Talking to media, Nitish Kumar took a dig at Congress and the RJD, claiming that up until 15 years ago, the state was riddled with riots. "There was no development. The university teachers were not even getting their salaries... but, now, we are asking for votes based on the work we have done," Nitish Kumar said.Nitish Kumar asserted that there was no confusion between the NDA partners JD(U) and the BJP over seat allocation. "A decision has been made over who will contest from where. No one in the BJP or JD(U) has any confusion about anything," Nitish Kumar said.

Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal backed Nitish Kumar's claim for solidarity within the NDA, "We, JD(U)-BJP, are working together and will work together in future also. I once again reiterate that Nitish Kumar is the NDA leader in Bihar," Sanjay Jaiswal said. BJP leader and Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi claimed that the LJP, which continues to be an NDA partner at the Centre, has fallen out in Bihar as Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan is not well and is available to make key decisions.Sushil Kumar Modi also raised objection to the LJP using Prime Minister Narendra Modi's face in its Bihar poll campaign posters.Sushil Modi indicated that the NDA in this election will mean only four parties -- the BJP, the JD(U), Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM and the Vikassheel Insaan Party.
