In FIFA world Cup, England defeated Wales to qualify for Round of 16 as the Group B winners. Forward Marcus Rashford scored the first direct free-kick of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to guide England to an impressive 3-0 victory against Wales.Interestingly, Rashford became only the third English player to score from a direct free-kick in a FIFA World Cup match, following the footsteps of David Beckham and Kieran Trippier. In the 68th minute, Rashford scored again to give England a 3-0 lead. The Manchester United academy player latched onto a delightful ball over the top from Kalvin Phillips, drove into the box and finished with a low, drilled shot.

In Group-A , Cody Gakpo and Frenkie de Jong scored the goals as Netherlands got the job done against hosts Qatar in their last game at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Doha on Tuesday. The 2-0 result allowed the Dutch team to clinch top position in the group. While their play hasn't been spectacular, they will know they have earned themselves a place in the last 16.Qatar, on the other hand, became the first host nation in World Cup history to go out of their own tournament without winning a single point. The poor showing at the World Cup will serve as a harsh lesson and perhaps help them find a higher level in the future.
