The National Testing Agency ( NTA) has announced the re-examination of NEET UG 2026 on on Sunday 21st June bringing an end to days of uncertainty for over 22 lakh medical aspirants after the May 3 exam was cancelled over paper leak allegations. In a social media post, the agency has requested candidates and parents to rely only on the official channels of NTA.The cancellation of the May 3 exam, announced on May 12, had left lakhs of candidates waiting for clarity on the revised schedule, admit cards, and further admission process.

Meanwhile, the government on Friday took responsibility for a “breach in command” despite following recommendations of the Radhakrishnan committee. Addressing a press conference, union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan vowed strong action against those responsible for the paper leak, and said that the decision to cancel the exam conducted this month was taken in favour of meritorious students.Pradhan was also asked about the alleged involvement of insiders in the National Testing Agency (NTA), as stated in an earlier HT report. In response the minister said: “CBI will investigate the matter thoroughly. CBI is a trustworthy agency, and it will probe matter smoothly.”
Pradhan said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken two key decisions following the cancellation of the NEET UG exam. He stated that candidates would receive a full refund of their examination fees and will not be charged again for the June 21 re-examination. He added that aspirants will also be given an opportunity to choose their preferred exam city, with a one-week window provided for this process. The NTA will issue a detailed notice by evening regarding the revised arrangements. Pradhan further said that candidates will be given an additional 15 minutes to fill in details on the OMR sheet, and that admit cards for the re-exam will be released on June 14.

Dharmendra Pradhan also chaired a high-level meeting at his residence on Thursday night to review developments in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. Meanwhile, the CBI expanded its investigation and looked into the possible involvement of insiders connected to the National Testing Agency.
