Ukraine's Military Chief has said that nearly 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since Russia- Ukraine conflict started. According to media reports, this is the first official toll of Ukraine's military losses since April. The United Nations has also said that it has confirmed the deaths of more than 5,500 civilians during Russia's Ukraine conflict, which began on 24th of February. General Valeriy Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, said on Monday many Ukrainian children needed to be cared for “because their fathers have gone to the front and are maybe among the nearly 9,000 heroes who have been killed”. Ukraine’s military dead stands in contrast to estimates given by Russia’s military, which last gave an update on March 25 when it said 1,351 Russian troops were killed during the first month of fighting.\
The United Nations said that it has also confirmed that at least 972 Ukrainian children killed or injured in the conflict. The UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said, most of the child casualties have been caused by the use of explosive weapons. On other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned of potential Russian actions against Ukraine as the country prepares to mark Independence Day. Ukraine marks its independence day on Wednesday but as per information this year on Independence Day, there will be no celebrations in Kyiv.

Meanwhile,Ukraine has appealed to the European Court of Human Rights to force Russia to provide information on the detention of Ukrainian servicemen in Russian captivity.
