The winner of the 67th National Film Awards for the year 2019 were announced on Monday in New Delhi. The ceremony had been delayed by almost a year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.Kangana Ranaut,Manoj Bajpayee, and Sushant Singh Rajput's last theatrical release, Chhichhore, won big awards. Chhichhore, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, won the best Hindi film award, Kangana Ranaut wins Best Actress award for Manikarnika-The Queen of Jhansi and Panga.Sikkim wins award for Most Film Friendly State. Asuran won for best Tamil film and Jersey won for best Telugu film. Vijay Sethupathi won the best-supporting actor award for Super Deluxe, and Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush shared the best actor award for Bhonsle and Asuran, respectively.The yet-to-be-released Malayalam film Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea) won the National Film Award for best feature film. Written and directed by Priyadarshan, the historical epic stars Mohanlal.
This time, there were 461 films in the Feature Film category and 220 films in the Non-Feature Film category. Sikkim was declared the most film-friendly state, there were entries from 13 states. Savani Ravindra has won Best Female Playback Singer for her song Raan Petala from the Marathi movie Bardo. Best Book on Cinema: A Gandhian Affair: India's Curious Portrayal of Love in Cinema by Sanjay Suri.
