Newsinc24 Team Police have arrested nine directors of an explosives manufacturing company in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district where a devastating blast claimed the lives of 18 workers, officials said on Monday.According to information,the Kalmeshwar police have registered a case against 21 directors and shareholders of SBL Energy Limited under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Nine directors have so far been taken into custody, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused.The explosion occurred on Sunday morning at the detonator packing unit of the company in Raulgaon village in Katol tehsil. At least 18 workers were charred to death and 24 others sustained injuries, most of them critically, in the powerful blast.
Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural) Dr Harssh Poddar said an initial report by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) and the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) pointed to safety lapses at the facility. Acting on the findings, police registered the case against the company officials.The arrested directors are being questioned, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion, officials said.According to police, several bodies were charred beyond recognition. Authorities have begun collecting samples from family members for DNA testing to establish the identities of the deceased.Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a thorough probe into the incident and assured strict action against those found responsible.
