Former BJP senior leader Mukul Roy and his son Subhranshu Roy returned to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday in presence of West Bengal chief minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee. Ahead of his return, Roy and his son held a meeting with Mamata and other senior TMC leaders at the party headquarters in Kolkata. "Yes, more will come," she confirmed when reporters asked. "As you know, old is always gold." Turncoats who left the TMC to join the BJP for money will not be allowed to return, she said.
After Mukul Roy quit TMC in 2017, he was appointed the BJP national vice president in the run-up to the Bengal assembly elections. But Mukul was said to be uncomfortable within the Bengal BJP. He apparently did not gel well with Dilip Ghosh even though the central BJP leadership kept him in good stead. Mukul Roy, the former lieutenant of Mamata Banerjee, had left the TMC over alleged disagreements with the party's top leadership on multiple issues, including differences with Abhishek Banerjee.
