In Madhya Pradesh, at least 4 people were killed and several others were injured after they fell into a well in the Ganjbasoda town of Vidisha district on Thursday. According to reports more than thirty people reportedly fell into the well when the villagers were trying to rescue a boy who had fallen in the well earlier. As per officials, the roof of the well collapsed due to the weight of people who were trying to rescue the boy. Later, 23 people were rescued, while 10 were said to be still trapped inside. Those rescued have minor injuries. Five people have been admitted to the hospital. As per the latest information on Friday, four bodies have been found and more than 20 people rescued. As many as 13 people are still missing, police said, and added that rescue operations are underway in GAnj Basoda.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, chief minister,informed the media that the National Disaster Management Force and State Disaster Management Force have been pressed into action. Inspector General, Zone, and other senior officials have also reached the spot. The Chief Minister has also ordered a high-level inquiry and instructed the officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the victims. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vidisha, Vinayak Verma said that the injured people have been admitted to the hospital."The rescue operation is underway. Several people who are injured have been admitted to the hospital," SP Verma told media personnel in Vidisha.
MP’s medical education minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang, who was in Ganjbasoda, said shortly before midnight that about 23 people were rescued and 13 have been admitted to hospital. Sarang, the guardian minister of Vidisha district 50 km from the state capital of Bhopal, said he has ordered a high-level probe into the accident.
