Mideast war doesn’t serve world’s interests: Xi Jinping

Chinese President Xi Jinping says at the BRICS nations’ summit in New Delhi that the Middle East war has “caused serious losses” and does not serve the world’s interests, Beijing’s state media reports. “As the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region continues to evolve, the war there has caused serious losses to people across the region,” state news agency Xinhua quotes Xi as saying at the summit attended by leaders including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He stated that BRICS nations should reject all forms of protectionism. "We should support the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organisation at its core and reject all forms of protectionism," Xi said.He urged member nations to oppose any violation of sovereignty. Referring to US President Donald Trump's punitive tariffs, the Chinese President urged BRICS nations to oppose arbitrary tariffs and reject all forms of protectionism. The Chinese President called the bloc a "leading group" in the Global South and a model of self-reliance among emerging and developing countries that should promote innovation-driven development.
