Market Mayhem: Sensex ends volatile session 359 pts higher,Nifty above 21,250

The Indian equity benchmark indices recouped losses and closed with gains on Thursday after tracking a rise in US futures. At close, the Sensex was up 358.79 points or 0.51 percent at 70,865.10, and the Nifty was up 104.90 points or 0.50 percent at 21,255.05. About 2419 shares advanced, 834 shares declined, and 72 shares unchanged.
Stocks and Sectors
BPCL, Power Grid Corporation, Britannia Industries, HDFC Bank and Hindalco Industries were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, HCL Technologies and Cipla.
On the sectoral front, Information Technology, bank, FMCG up 0.5 percent each, while metal, pharma, realty, power and oil & gas, capital goods up 1-2 percent.BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices up 1.5 percent each. 
On 21 Dec'23,the Indian rupee depreciated 5 paise to close at 83.22 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday,weighed down by dollar demand from local oil companies, while traders awaited GDP and labour market data from the United States.

Market experts have recommended five stocks to buy or sell for Thursday AU Small Finance Bank, Radico Khaitan, Tata Power, SBI and V-Mart Retail.
