The domestic share market indices Sensex and Nifty gave up early gains to end lower for the second straight session on Tuesday, dragged down by selling in financial stocks.At close, the Sensex was down 297.07 points or 0.36 percent at 82,029.98, and the Nifty was down 81.85 points or 0.32 percent at 25,145.50.
Max Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and ICICI Bank were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Bajaj Finance, Bharat Electronics, TCS, Trent.On the sectoral front,all the sectoral indices ended in the red with pharma, consumer durables, metal, media, PSU Bank index down 1-1.5%.BSE Midcap index shed 0.8 percent and smallcap indices fell 1%.
Rupee Close:
On 14 Oct'25,the Indian rupee depreciated 12 paise to revisit its all-time low of 88.80 against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by negative domestic equities and overnight gains in the American currency.Forex traders said foreign fund outflows amid a risk-off mode globally further dented investor sentiment.However, a decline in crude oil prices and reports of RBI intervention supported the local unit and restricted the slide.

Mid and small-cap stocks bore the brunt of the sell-off, underperforming large caps while sectoral losses were broad based.Volatility is expected in the short term; however, the market is in a safe zone on a medium term basis, in anticipation of a rise in demand during the second half of FY26.
Market experts recommended five stocks to buy on Tuesday-Swaraj Engines, Sirca Paints India, Krishna Institute Of Medical Sciencs, FINO Payments Bank, and HBL Engineering.
