In response to the guidelines issued to States by Union Education Ministry on the opening schools and colleges from October 15, Maharashtra Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant has said that the decision to open colleges will have to be based on the current spread of Covid -19 in the state. After a review of meeting of preparations for the final year examination with the authorities of Savitribai Phule Pune University , he said Maharashtra's pandemic situation is not yet normal.
Meanwhile , the State's tally of total cases has reached 14, 65,911 while active cases stand at 2,47,023 and the recovery rate has gone up to 80.48%. The death toll has now reached 38,717 while total recoveries are 11,79,726.
On another front, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is holding discussions with religious organisations and he will soon take a decision on reopening places of worship. It was stated by Shiv Sena M.P. Sanjay Raut recently.When it was pointed out by reporters that restaurants have been allowed to function with at 50% of their capacity or as prescribed by authorities, Raut said that you can impose 50%restrictions on restaurants while opening them , but it is not possible in the case of temples.
