Large parts of Maharashtra continue to reel under the impact of relentless monsoon rains, with Mumbai and the Konkan region witnessing widespread flooding, landslides, building collapses and major disruption to road, rail and air transport. Authorities across the state remain on high alert as heavy rainfall is expected to continue through the day. According to Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan Mumbai, Palghar and Raigad have received recotd breaking rain and 13 persons have died in last 3-4 days. A landslide burying a house in Pune, while relentless rain crippled road and rail connectivity between Mumbai and Pune. With more heavy rain forecast, authorities warned that disruption to normal life could continue. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday reviewed the situation. Mumbai has received one month's rain quota in just four days. The Maharashtra government has ordered the closure of all government, municipal and private schools and colleges across the coastal districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, as well as Pune.

The situation remains particularly critical in Raigad district, which has been witnessing torrential rainfall for the past five days. The Amba, Kundalika, Savitri and Patalganga rivers are all flowing above the danger mark, inundating residential areas and prompting rescue and evacuation operations in several parts of the district. rain causes havoc in Satara and Western Ghat in Mahabaleshwar.

The roof at Ratnagiri railway station in collapsed amid heavy rain sunday night. There was no casualty. Heavy rainfall has also triggered multiple landslides across the Konkan region. A major landslide near Kashedi on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway has disrupted traffic towards Goa. Teams from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are clearing debris and working to restore traffic. As part of the landslide reached the vicinity of nearby houses, residents from the affected area have been shifted to safer locations as a precaution.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded roads, rivers, landslide-prone areas and the coastline, and strictly follow all advisories issued by the IMD, district administrations and local authorities. In the event of floods, landslides, road closures or any other emergency, citizens have been urged to immediately contact the concerned authorities and emergency services.
In Pune district, an NDRF team rescued 37 passengers stranded inside a private bus after severe waterlogging near Ghorawadi railway station left the vehicle marooned, officials said.The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was adjourned for the day on Monday after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis briefed the House on the severe monsoon situation affecting Mumbai and several adjoining districts, saying the state government has placed its disaster response machinery on the highest level of alert.

The heavy rainfall has caused widespread disruption across Maharashtra. Road connectivity was severely affected after landslides disrupted traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the old Mumbai-Pune Highway near the Khopoli-Kusgaon ‘Missing Link’ project. Suburban rail services and several long-distance trains between Mumbai and Pune were also affected due to waterlogging and landslides in ghat sections.
