Leave Iran: Indian embassy issues fresh advisory to its citizens

The Indian embassy in Tehran on Wednesday issued a fresh advisory for citizens in Iran as violent protests have resulted in deaths of demonstrators and security personnel. The advisory urged Indian citizens in the country to leave Iran by any means of transport available and warned others against travelling to the country until further notice. “In view of the ongoing developments in Iran, Indian nationals are once again strongly advised to avoid travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran until further notice," the embassy stated. It also asked citizens to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, ready, adding that they can contact the embassy for any assistance.Sharing the emergency helplines, the embassy stated, "The emergency contact helplines of the Indian Embassy are provided below: Mobile Numbers: +989128109115; +989128109109; +989128109102; +989932179359. Email: cons.tehran@mea.gov.in."

Iran, which has been rocked by protests over the past two weeks, has imposed a communications blackout, and is facing international pressure for its crackdown on protestors. This comes as Iran warned US allies in its neighbourhood that it will strike the American bases on their soil if Washington targets Tehran. US President Donald Trump has threatened earlier that he would intervene to support protesters if the Islamic regime continues killing the citizens. The death toll in Iran due to the violent protests and government crackdown has crossed 2,600.
