From a peak of the second wave, Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a significant drop in its Covid-19 tally in recent months. On Wednesday, the state recorded five new cases, which took the overall tally to 7,92,924, according to state health department. A day before, the state had recorded nine fresh cases of the infection.
However, the fatality count has remained the same - 10,524 - as no new death has been reported in recent days, according to government data.
Khajuraho, a popular tourist place in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, was able to largely control the outbreak of the disease. However, when a 24-year-old hotel employee and a 12-year-old girl in the town contracted Covid-19 on November 3, it concerned health officials. Both the patients were admitted to the isolation ward of the district hospital.
Their test results came positive from the 421 samples tested in Khajuraho on November 3. The 24-year-old works at Radisson hotel.
They have recovered now and were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in the district has reached 9,838, while 9,682 patients have recovered so far.
The total recoveries in Madhya Pradesh reached 7,82,319 after 12 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday, leaving the state with 81 active cases. The health department data showed that 57,517 tests were conducted on Wednesday, taking the total number of samples examined so far in Madhya Pradesh to 2,07,50,525.
A total of 12,80,697 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered in the stateon Wednesday.
