The Enforcement Directorate(ED) has said that BRS leader K Kavitha wiped clean eight mobile phones that may have had evidence, and was booked into an Rs 10 lakh room at a five-star hotel. She was involved in proceeds of crime worth nearly Rs 300 crore out of Rs1,100 crore laundered in the Delhi excise policy scam.In its supplementary chargesheet filed before Special judge Kaveri Baweja in a Delhi court on Monday,ED has also accused Ms Kavitha of conspiring with the 'South group' to pay Delhi's ruling AAP Rs 100 crore in exchange for liquor licenses.She has also been accused of plotting to acquire a stake in Indo Spirits - which received a wholesale license for the Rs 100 crore payment - and benefitted from the 12 per cent profit margin, eventually making Rs 192.8 crore profit till the policy was scrapped.
Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is allegedely conspired with the members of the purported South Group and the AAP leaders through another accused Vijay Nair who was acting on behalf of the top AAP leadership to pay Rs100 crore kickbacks and receive undue benefits. Kavitha is knowingly involved in the generation and transfer of PoC of Rs100 crore and the generation, acquisition, and possession of PoC Rs192.8 crore in the guise of profits generated by IndoSpirits during November 2021 to August 2022,” the ED alleged in its chargesheet. The agency further alleged that the BRS MLC received Rs 5.5 crore from IndoSpirits in the name of her aide Abhishek Boinpally."
She presented nine phones for examination, which were formatted and had no data. She was evasive and couldn't give any explanation for those formatted phones,” the ED alleged, It further alleged that Kavitha was also involved in acts of influencing the witnesses.In a fresh 177-page chargesheet filed Monday, in which Ms Kavitha was listed as Accused No 32, the federal agency said she had submitted eight phones - two iPhone 13 Mini, two iPhone 13, two iPhone 13, and two iPhone 14 Pro. The ED said the BRS leader was asked if she had formatted any of these devices or removed any data, to which the agency said she replied in the negative.
