Karnataka Legislature session concludes

A brief 5 day session of Karnataka Legislature concludes on Thursday by passing 3 bills. Council passed a bill pertaining land reforms which was introduced during the previous session so that any one can now buy agriculture land. Earlier only farmers were entitled to buy farming land in the State. Assembly passed two major bills. Anti cow slaughtering bill has now come in the new form by enhancing the fine to 5 lakh and jail term of seven years with stiff opposition from congress party. The bill passed when congress walked out of the house in protest.

On the final day Assembly passed a bill increasing Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike wards to 243 from present 198 with out any opposition as congress boycotted the Assembly proceedings. However, love jihad bill was deferred to be introduced in the next session. The 10 day session was cut short to 5 days as all MLAs  wanted the session to close immediately as grama panchayat elections are slated during the last week of this month.
