It's up to every actor to choose the work they do : Mrunal Jain
Actor Mrunal Jain is known for his shows like Bandini, Uttaran and Hitler Didi. He has also worked in films like Sab Kushal Mangal and Sooryavanshi. Mrunal is currently looking for good opportunities. Mrunal, who is also an entrepreneur and co-owner of Tennis Premier League, is missing from his first love acting for quite some time now. Speaking more on his career in acting Mrunal says,” I'm an actor first. It's just that I am also busy with Tennis Premier League, which I have been doing for the last five years. A lot of time and effort has gone over there to build up my IP, so the business entrepreneur inside me was working and building the other side of my passion, which is sports. I do get offers in acting, whether it is antagonists or protagonists but few I didn’t like and few clashed with my calendar. My last show was Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Before that, I have done a web series that is about to be released this year. Honestly, I am not staying away from television, but there were a lot of commitments towards my own sports engagements, which is why you've not seen me on screen. Now that my league's (TPL) season 5 has finished in December, the next 6 months I will be looking forward to a good show or a web series. Side by side, I am doing a few music albums as well. Three of my music videos were released last year, and I am looking forward to doing a few more this year.”
But in today’s scenario when there are a number of actors and tough competition is there, is getting good work a challenge? Mrunal has a different opinion on that.He adds,”I would say it's the choice of work that every actor wants to do. Sometimes what I wanted to do didn't come my way, and something that I didn't want to do I took up, and that turned into the right choice for me. So sometimes your gut feeling or instincts say you need to take up that thing. At times the actor gets an instinctive feeling which is "yes, I want to do this, I really want to do this. Competition was there before also, and it is going to increase every year because there are a lot of platforms that have come. There are OTT platforms - in the last 5 years, the scenario has changed since COVID, so competition has increased, but simultaneously, there are a lot of platforms that have increased, which has created a lot of opportunities for actors to work on. If I think about competition, I would be stuck with "What I don't get." So rather than focusing on myself and what I can get and what I should be giving best for, my focus is not on competition; my focus is on myself rather than on any competition.“
Mrunal has played various shades in his career and is eagerly waiting for something which will excite him as an actor. He also wants to let people know that he has not taken a break from acting. He believes his entrepreneur side and acting can be maintained in a balanced way.
Saanand Verma on his viral comic videos:Audiences’ love encourage me to keep doing it
Apart from being an actor and comedian, Saanand Verma is also a content creator now. His comic videos are gaining popularity on social media. He started making these videos about four months back.“I enjoy making them a lot as I’m the director, cinematographer, writer, and even the performer. And, I have been getting millions of viewers. So, it’s a one-man show. I get very satisfied creatively making these videos; even the audience loves it so I get really encouraged to make more videos. Many stars make videos. In today’s time, you cannot think of the importance of social media to be any less, many decisions are taken there, and sometimes even casting is done via social media. Recently, I went for a narration of a show and the producer praised my work online and only talked about my viral videos. I feel free in my videos, I can do whatever I want to, I can play an under-30 boy as well as a 40-plus man and both get well accepted. The storytelling and creative processes are satisfying too,” he says.
Given the busy schedule Apharan 2 actor has, it’s quite apt to ask when does he get time to ideate, and how does the process work for him.“Sometimes I see or read jokes on social media and recreate content with it, I add my words to the idea. You can recreate one good idea into several things. I’ve been a writer since I was a kid, I’ve been writing for newspapers as well since I was 10 years old. I remember I was in class 11 when my articles were published in magazines like Nandan and Hindustan times, and I’ve also written novels of 1000 pages as a kid. So I use my writing in acting as well, and in my jokes. Sometimes my jokes are original and sometimes I pick up jokes from social media and recreate,” he shares his process.
Interestingly, Saanand says that he never got trolled for his videos. “I’m very careful when it comes to the sentiments of my viewers. I’m well aware of the society, political scenario and everything, I’m also very conscious and don’t want to hurt anybody. By the grace of god you will find hundreds of comments on my videos and hardly any negative reaction. People love me from the bottom of their hearts, I have a very genuine fan following and I’m very grateful for that,” he says.
On one side these videos are giving him an opportunity to connect with his audiences, while some might consider this as overexposure. Saanand explains his stand.“The main thing is the genuineness of an actor. If I’m genuine then over exposure is never going to be a problem for me because the mindset of a viewer is different based on the various formats of entertainment. For example, if a viewer is watching a feature film in a theatre then the mindset of that viewer is different than someone watching a video on social media. The mindset, focus, attention, and expectation of a viewer from watching an artist online is different compared to theatre viewing (in a dark room) after buying a ticket for Rs 400. Overexposure is not a problem when a performer or actor is honest in their approach, which will always be admired by the audience,” he ends.
Short film Kathakaar lead Priyanka Bajaj Sibal talks about significance of happiness
Two times Mrs India winner Priyanka Bajaj Sibal will soon be making her Bollywood debut with Ruslaan Mumtaz-starrer Kathakaar, a gripping short film. She plays role of a cop in the Anshuman Chaturvedi film. She says that she regards this opportunity as a chance to learn. “I believe that every day is a learning opportunity, to evolve - be it gaining a new skill, exploring a fresh idea, challenging myself to set new goals. In essence, it brings me immense happiness when I am able to work towards my goals. Of course, it is a given that family is my anchor, and their company fills me with joy and makes my life complete,” she says.
Talking about her career, and how opportunities such as these make her happy, she says, “Career is not something outside of my being. It brings my soul joy to be able to do the things I am passionate about - acting, dancing, modelling. It elevates my soul to see the fine results of my hard work, and yet, it doesn’t take away from my life if things get tough on the work front, because I have a cushion in my family. My idea of happiness is to enjoy every minute of this wonderful journey, and not lose the plot in focusing only on the destination.”
She adds, “I absolutely agree that balance is the key to happiness in life. Work and life need to be given their due every day. I have found my own way to make this work for myself as I travel for work and club family time with this. This helps me rejuvenate myself. I am fortunate to be blessed with a very supporting family.”
Ask her when her career made her happy, and she says, “My career opportunities are essentially the milestones of my life, and I feel overwhelmed at the memory of these experiences because it came to me with a lot of effort. Winning the Mrs India title twice was no easy job! It requires grit, determination, perseverance, and a lot of sacrifices. So, this was my pinnacle of success and brought me immense happiness! Besides this, cracking my chartered accountancy degree after multiple attempts, going the whole way without giving into doubts and skepticism was a victory for me. Also, work keeps me busy, so whenever I am able to spend quality time with my family members, especially on festivals, I am super happy.”
Here is what she has to say to her fans. “Be fearless! Don’t give up! Ignore all the noises around you that tell you that you can’t do it! There is nothing that can stop you from achieving your dreams — if you are willing to put in your heart and soul, and come with everything that you’ve got, showing up day after day and not settling for anything less than the very best you deserve! Don’t set any limits for yourself. Keep exploring and see how far you can go in life. I believe each one of us has something unique in us to enrich the world with, and to unleash that infinite potential in us is our soul’s responsibility. Once you are aware of your inner calling, then with a pure intention in your heart, and with focus and determination, you should go out there and put your best to manifest it.”
