Joe Biden to be new President of US

Joe Biden on Saturday defeated Donald Trump in the presidential election to become the 46th president of the United States, as the incumbent rushed to reject the outcome saying that the “election is far from over” and threatened further legal challenges. The Associated Press declared Joe Biden the winner of a grueling campaign for the American presidency four days after elections were held in the country. “He will lead a polarized nation through a historic collision of health, economic and social crises,” AP said. Kamala Harris made history on Saturday with her election as Joe Biden's vice president, becoming the first woman, first Black American and first Asian American to win the second highest U.S. office.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated American President-elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in a tweet.

President Ram Nath Kovind also congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their victory.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi also extended her best wishes to US President-elect Joe Biden and US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

Donald Trump, refusing to concede defeat in the US presidential election, said Saturday that Joe Biden was "rushing to falsely pose as the winner". Trump underlined that states had not yet certified the results, and his campaign has launched multiple "legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor."
