Leavitt said Iran’s ability to arm proxy groups in the region has been significantly curtailed following US and Israeli strikes that began on February 28. “Iran can no longer distribute weapons to its proxy groups,” she said, framing the military campaign as having reshaped the balance ahead of negotiations. The White House also made clear that reopening the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority for Washington, with no room for restrictions or tolls on global shipping.
