At least 10 people including a top commander of a Palestinian militant group were killed by Israeli air strikes in the Ghaza strip. According to local health officials, dozens of others were injured in the air strikes. Israeli Prime Miniter said that the operation followed an immediate threat by Palestinian Islamic Jihad after the arrest of one of its members this week. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group fired more than 100 rockets into Israel in an initial response.The Israeli army bombed multiple locations in the Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon and announced a new military operation on the besieged Palastinian enclave. As per Middle East Eye report, the attacks hit three different areas: Khan Yunis in the south of the strip, Shujaiya in the north, and a residential building in central Gaza. Israeli report says, a senior Islamic Jihad official was killed in the strikes. There has been no confirmation from the group. The army said it was targeting the Islamic Jihad in the operation dubbed "Dawn Rising".
Following the direct threats posed by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza, the IDF is currently striking in the Gaza Strip.

The strikes come four days after Israel closed its two border crossings with Gaza and restricted the movement of Israeli civilians living near the frontier, citing security concerns. The measures follow the arrest in the occupied West Bank of two senior members of militant group Islamic Jihad, which has a strong presence in Gaza.
