The US military hit targets in Iran on Tuesday, and Tehran fired missiles and drones in response, as hostilities flared once again in an intermittent war that has lasted more than six months. The Iranian Red Crescent said four people were killed, including a child and over 50 others were wounded after a US strike hit a home that was hosting a wedding in the town of Kuhestak in the country’s south.US Central Command said the latest strikes were in response to Tehran trying to attack commercial ships and American forces in the Middle East. Trump offered additional explanations, first writing on Truth Social that the US strikes were in retaliation for Tehran’s “failed attempt” to lay mines along the Strait of Hormuz.
Amid the attacks, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday rejected the idea that he was trying to force Iran back to talks and said Washington now held the stronger position in the Strait of Hormuz and on the economy. Trump in a Truth Social post on Tuesday warned Iran not to retaliate against the latest US strikes and said that Tehran would face "much harder and higher" attacks if it hits back. "If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!" Trump said on Truth Social. Trump claimed on Monday that the US and Israeli bombardment has made Iran a "failed nation". He said that their leadership is dead, its military is devastated and its economy is in ruins. However, he said that more strikes might be necessary. "That doesn't mean we won't smack them," Trump told reporters. "We'll see what happens."
While the IRGC claimed to have killed a large number of US forces, two US officials told Reuters that no casualties have been reported. The Jordanian army said it intercepted 10 of the 13 missiles fired by Iran, while three of the projectiles were allowed to fall in remote areas. Residents of the southern Israeli city of Eilat heard blasts, possibly from impacts or interceptions from the attack. IraIran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned countries cooperating with US forces that they would face “dangerous consequences” and said further US operations would draw heavier and broader Iranian responses.n launched missile and drone attacks on US facilities across the region, including bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Erbil, while Kuwait and Bahrain said their air defenses were responding to Iranian or hostile drone attacks.
