International tourists to discover Maheshwar and Mandu’s heritage

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has launched a study tour and professional workshop in collaboration with the Regional Tourist Guides Association (RTGA) Delhi to strengthen the global identity of the state’s heritage sites. The initiative focuses on showcasing Maheshwar and Mandu as key international tourism destinations.
According to information,over 30 experienced and internationally certified guides, recognized by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, and Archaeological Survey of India, are participating in the tour. These guides are proficient in several international languages, enabling them to introduce foreign tourists to the cultural and historical richness of Madhya Pradesh. After returning to Delhi, they will highlight the heritage attractions of Bhopal, Mandu, and Maheshwar, thereby enhancing the state’s presence on the global tourism map.
Tourism, Culture, and Religious Trust and Endowment Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, efforts are being made to combine heritage conservation and tourism development to position Madhya Pradesh prominently on the global stage. “Through this exploration program, when experienced guides provide in-depth information about these sites to international tourists, it will undoubtedly strengthen tourism in the state further,” Lodhi said.Principal Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Home, and Religious Trust and Endowment, and Managing Director of the Tourism Board, Sheo Shekhar Shukla, added that heritage sites like Maheshwar and Mandu are priceless gems of Madhya Pradesh’s cultural legacy. “When the guides from RTGA Delhi study these sites in detail, they will be able to present them even more effectively before international tourists. This initiative will significantly contribute to building a global identity for Madhya Pradesh as India’s leading heritage destination,” Shukla said.
Study Tour Itinerary
The program began on September 14 with the arrival of RTGA representatives in Bhopal, where they visited Taj-ul-Masjid, Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Center, Birla Museum, and Bharat Bhawan. On September 15, the group traveled to Mandu and explored Rani Roopmati Mahal, Baz Bahadur Mahal, Jahaz Mahal, Hoshang Shah’s Tomb, and Neelkanth Mahadev Temple. On September 16, they will head to Maheshwar to tour Ahilya Fort, the river ghats, homestays, and tourist facilitation centers. The study trip will conclude on September 18, when the delegation departs for Delhi.Throughout the program, the participants are being guided by experts including Prakash Paranjape, Deputy Director of the Archaeological Department, Prashant Patankar, Sub-Conservation Officer of the Archaeological Survey of India, and archaeologist Devi Prasad Pandey, who are providing detailed insights into the architectural and historical significance of the sites.
