Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that a lot of input costs will come down due to GST reforms and the GST reforms are a huge victory for each and every citizen of the country. In her address at the event, "Tax Reforms for Rising Bharat' organised by Chennai Citizens Forum on Sunday, she said the beneficial impact of Goods and Services Tax would be there for all products from the start of the day till people go to bed. 99% of all the goods which were in 12 % GST bracket have now come in 5 % GST bracket, she said.

The latest set of GST reforms are set to come into force from September 22. The government has said the recent GST reductions are more than tax changes, describing them as measures that will improve affordability, enhance mobility, promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen key industries. These GST reform measures represent a strong push towards the government’s vision of economic self-reliance, citizen empowerment, and improved ease of living for every Indian.
