India's solar powered agriculture key to Africa’s food security: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted India’s success in using solar energy for agriculture, saying the country’s clean-energy farming model offers a scalable solution for Africa to improve food security, boost farmer incomes and promote sustainable development.
Sharing an article by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on X, Modi said solar power is emerging as a transformative force and that India’s experience can help strengthen shared prosperity and empower communities across Africa.“Solar power is emerging as a transformative force. India’s model of harnessing clean energy for agriculture offers a scalable model for Africa, strengthening shared prosperity, empowering communities and promising food security. Truly a matter of pride for our farmers and all of us!” the Prime Minister said.


The article highlights India’s solar revolution and the role of initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) and the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in promoting solar-powered agriculture and expanding access to clean energy.According to the article, India’s experience shows how renewable energy can improve farm productivity, increase farmer incomes and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources.
