In Tokyo Paralympics, India on Sunday got one more medal when Nishad Kumar high jumper Nishad Kumar clinched a silver medal in the men's high jump T47 event. He made a jump of 2.06m and also went on to create an Asian record as the event turned out to be a good affair for the Indian para-athlete.The other Indian in the fray Ram Pal finished a creditable fifth, equalling his personal best jump of 1.94m. USA's Dallas Wise (T46) had a best jump of 2.06m -- the same as Nishad Kumar -- to also win the silver medal. The other American in the event Roderick Townsend set a new world record by jumping 2.15m to win the gold.
Nishad and Wise both finished on the same mark, but Nishad had crossed the 2.02 mark in his first attempt while Wise took two, as a result, Nishad won silver. India's Rampal Chahar finished at the fifth spot with a jump of 1.94m. The Sports Authority of India announced the success of Nishad at the Tokyo Paralympics games on twitter. Giving competition to Nishad Kumar at this time was Chen Hongjie of China while the two American athletes hadn't even entered the fray with their opening jumps set at 2.02m.
India's Vinod Kumar bagged a bronze medal in the Discus throw F52 event on Sunday to win India it's third medal at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics. With a throw of 19.91m, he set a new Asian record.
