India has finally won the Oscar race in 2023. Best original song Naatu Naatu from the film RRR won the Oscar. In the category of “Best Documentary Short” film “The "Elephant Whispers" has also received the 95th Oscar Award. Before this two Indian films- 'The House That Ananda Built' (1969) and 'An Encounter With Faces (1979) were nominated but both these documentaries failed to win the award. Getting Oscar award for any country is very important.and it is a matter of pride. This time we got Oscar in two catagories. The documentary film that got the award. directed by Karthiki Gonsalves. Renouned producer Guneet Monga was the producer of this film. After the announcement both were very much also praised.Prime Minister and many leaders and actors congratulated them described the achivement as the 'Golden Day' for Indian cinema.
Best Original Song 'Naatu Naatu' from SS Rajamouli's film 'RRR' has become the first Indian and Asian song to win an Oscar in the Song category. The song 'Naatu Naatu' is written by Chandra Bose and composed by MM Keeravani. Earlier, 'Natu Natu' won the Golden Globe Award in the same category. Since then it was considered to be the frontrunner in the Oscar race.Before this, the song 'Jai Ho' from the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' won the 81st Academy Awards in 2008.
"The Elephant Whispers" is a Tamil language documentary. This documentary was released in December 2022. The story of the documentary is about a tribal couple who live in Mudumalai Tiger reserves. The documentary is about the bond that develops between a couple and an orphaned baby elephant, Raghu, who was entrusted to their care. The documentry tells the story of an indigenous couple named Bomman and Belli who are entrusted with an orphaned baby elephant. The film is not just a heart-touching story of a bond between animal and human and co-existence, but also showcases Indian culture and tradition of environment conservation.
The documentary also tells the importance of forests and animals for the survival of human. Both are very much needed. Director Karthiki and Garima Puri Patialvi has written the script.The Elephant Whispers, is a 41-minute short documentary, Which is Karthiki Gonsalves's first documentary. Kartiki is a wildlife photographer.As per Guneet, “There is a scene in the film where there is talk of a jungle. and we are told that from the forest we should take only as much as we need. because forests give us everything. We must set a limit and take only that much which we require."
