Indian airlines to resume Doha flights from May 1 amid West Asia crisis

Indian carriers are set to resume full-scale flight operations to Doha from May 1, marking a gradual restoration of connectivity after weeks of disruption across West Asia, the Embassy of India in Qatar said on Thursday.Leading airlines including Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo are expected to restart services to Hamad International Airport, reconnecting the Qatari capital with major Indian cities and regional transit hubs.


The resumption comes after nearly two months of disruption triggered by joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian leadership and nuclear facilities on February 28, which escalated into a broader regional conflict and severely impacted aviation operations.Qatar’s airspace had remained largely shut to commercial traffic since early March, with Hamad International Airport handling only limited emergency and evacuation flights during the period.
According to the Embassy, the restart of services is part of coordinated efforts by global aviation and regulatory authorities to stabilise operations in the region. However, it cautioned that flight schedules may remain fluid given the evolving security environment.Passengers have been advised to stay in close contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates on departures, terminals and bookings.The reopening of air routes follows a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, brokered in Islamabad in mid-April and recently extended by Donald Trump. The truce has provided a limited window for international carriers to cautiously resume operations, with insurers beginning to clear flights in the region.
