Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has expected India’s economy to reach $6 trillion by 2030. He attributed this growth to rapid technological advancements and robust economic reforms. Speaking at the Time Group’s Global Business Summit in Delhi, he emphasized India’s record-breaking 5G rollout, made possible by domestic telecom companies. Scindia outlined India’s economic trajectory, predicting it will surpass Germany and Japan to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027. He estimated GDP to reach $5 trillion by 2028 and $6 trillion by 2030.
Highlighting Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL)'s turnaround, Scindia noted that the telecom firm posted a net profit of Rs 262 crore in Q3 FY24, marking its first profitable quarter in 17 years. Government capital infusion of Rs 3.04 lakh crore, cost-cutting measures, and network expansion contributed to this recovery. BSNL’s operating profit stood at Rs 2,400 crore from April to December 2024, while annual losses have been trimmed by Rs 1,800 crore.
