External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on its first anniversary, reaffirming India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “Join the nation in remembering the victims of the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack, which took place this day last year. India stands steadfast in its resolve to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

The attack, carried out on April 22, 2025, by The Resistance Front an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba saw terrorists open fire on tourists after identifying their religion, marking one of the most brutal civilian-targeted incidents in recent years.A total of 26 people were killed in the attack, including 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator who lost his life while attempting to save others, underscoring the human cost of terrorism.
In response, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6–7, 2025. The coordinated strikes targeted nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), resulting in the elimination of over 100 terrorists, including trainers, handlers, and associates.Officials said the operation dealt a significant blow to terror infrastructure linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, while ensuring minimal collateral damage to civilian areas.
