India got the best US deal, Piyush Goyal slams Rahul for LS chaos

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said India had secured the “best possible” trade deal with the United States under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, while sharply attacking the Opposition, particularly Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, for creating disruptions in the Lok Sabha during the debate.“I condemn Rahul Gandhi for what happened,” he added, referring to ruckus over the Leader of Opposition's attempt to cite an unpublished book of former army chief Gen MM Naravane. Speaking on the India–US trade agreement, Goyal said the deal was finalised due to Prime Minister Modi’s close personal relationship with US President Donald Trump and would benefit a wide range of sectors, including farmers, MSMEs, and industry.

On the trade deal, Goyal said, “PM Modi used his friendship with Donald Trump to get the best deal among all the countries in the region, all countries that we compete with." “PM Modi ensured that India's sensitive sectors — agriculture and dairy — were safeguarded and given attention in the deal,” he added. He said the agreement had been the result of months of negotiations between Indian and US teams and claimed it strengthened India’s position as a “strong country”. He added that the agreement would provide significant support to women, farmers, and small businesses. “This deal will help our sisters and farmers. MSMEs, IT, textiles, and leather goods sectors will all benefit immensely,” the minister said.

He reiterated that the agreement was the outcome of sustained engagement with the US side and reflected India’s growing global standing. “For months, our teams were in talks with the US team. Using his personal diplomacy and friendship, Modi ji has secured an excellent deal for India,” Goyal said.
