India on Sunday expressed “deep concern” over the United States’ attacks on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro by American forces, and called on all parties to address issues peacefully through dialogue to ensure stability in the region. The external affairs ministry reiterated India’s concern for the safety of the people of Venezuela and said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation.The government also said that the Embassy of India in Caracas is in contact with members of the Indian community and will continue to provide all possible assistance. “The Embassy of India in Caracas is in contact with members of the Indian community and will continue to provide all possible assistance,” the MEA statement noted.The MEA has advised Indian nationals to avoid all non-essential travel to Venezuela amid the unfolding situation in the South American nation. It also urged Indians currently in Venezuela to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements, and remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Caracas.

The Trump administration launched attacks on Caracas and seized Maduro and his wife early on Saturday. A plane carrying Maduro landed in New York state on Saturday evening, and he was indicted on drug and weapons charges.
The Congress also expressed "grave concern" over the US action in Venezuela and said settled principles of international law cannot be violated unilaterally. Congress general secretary communications Jairam Ramesh said, "The INC expresses very grave concern on US actions relating to Venezuela in the past 24 hours."
