Imran praises Indian foreign policy, IMFquestions his subsidy packege

Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan on Sunday heaped praises on India and its foreign policy. Addressing a rally in Malakand, Khan said,"Main aaj Hindustan ko daad deta hun (I salute India today). It has always maintained an independent foreign policy." “India is a member of Quad alliance with United States as one of its members. But still it calls itself neutral. India is importing oil from Russia which is facing sanctions. This is because India's foreign policy is for its people,” he said. Earlier in January, Imran Khan had praised India for its boom in the information and technology sector, and hailed the policies attracting investments.

Meanwhile, the International Money Fund (IMF) has asked Pakistan to explain how it would fund a $1.5 billion subsidy package announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said on Sunday. "There are no issues. We have given them details as to where the funds would come from," Tarin said, adding the IMF wanted details of the resources to fund the subsidy in fuel and electricity, which Pakistan has frozen for the next four months until the new budget. The IMF has begun the seventh review of the $6 billion rescue package agreed with Pakistan in 2019, and Tarin said he will have a final meeting with the lender on Tuesday.
