Hyderabad celebrates Liberation vs Integration Day

Telengana capital Hyderabad on Staurday witnessed two programmwa on same subject- the state's 'integration' to the Indian Union or 'liberation' from the rule of the Nizam. The ruling TRC party  celebrates 'Telangana National Integration Day' while Amit Shah celebrated it as the 'Hyderabad Liberation Day. Home minister Amit Shah hoisted the national flag at parade grounds while Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao KCR unfurled the Tricolour on Telangana Jateeya Samaikyata Dinotsavam (Telangana National Integration Day) elsewhere in Hyderabad - to mark 75 years of Hyderabad's annexation to the Indian union. Addressing the rally Shah mentioned about Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the first Home Minister of India and said that if not for him, Hyderabad would have taken many more years to get liberated. After so many years, there was a desire in this land that the Hyderabad Liberation Day should be celebrated with the government's participation. But unfortunately, 75 years are over and those who ruled this place could not dare celebrate Hyderabad liberation day due to vote bank politics, Shah said. The home minister  said the purpose of celebrating Hyderabad Liberation Day is to revive the history of this liberation struggle and revived the tales of the known and unknown martyrs by igniting the flame of patriotism in the youth. This will revive the spirit of patriotism in our youth. he Union Home Minister also paid homage to the patriots who were arrested by the Nizam's Army on 15 August 1947, who hoisted the national flag at Osmania University. Shah said on this day in 1948, Telangana, Marathwada and Kalyan Karnataka became Independent and between 13 and 17 September 1948, many heroes were martyred ere during a 109 hour struggle. On this occasion, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra  Eknath Shinde, the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism G. Kishan Reddy and the Union Home Secretary and many other dignitaries were present.

On September 17, 1948, Telangana became an integral part of India. It transformed from dynastic rule into the democratic phase,,said KCR. He said the state recently celebrated the 75 years of Independence Day in grandeur manner for 15 days. The state government had on September 3 announced its decision to observe September 17 as Telangana National Integration Day.
