Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of acclaimed Hollywood actor and filmmaker Rob Reiner, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his parents, according to Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell on Monday. Police say that 78-year-old Rob Reiner and his 70-year-old wife, Michele Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday. According to report, both victims were fatally stabbed inside their residence. Their son, who has a documented history of drug addiction, was taken into custody in connection with the double homicide. Nick is the middle son of Rob and Michele, who share three kids together, and has spoken before about his substance abuse issues
Reiner is known for directing several iconic films, including When Harry Met Sally, This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, Misery and A Few Good Men. The 32-year-old son was seen having an argument with his father at a holiday party Saturday at Conan O’Brien’s home, according to a source familiar with the incident. He was booked on suspicion of murder and is currently being held without bail.
US President Donald Trump has defended his controversial earlier post about Rob Reiner, describing the slain director as "a deranged person". Specifically, he accused Reiner of being "behind" the Russia "hoax". "I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape or form." In his earlier post, Trump said - without providing any evidence - that Reiner and his wife "reportedly" died "due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction" with "Trump Derangement Syndrome". The comment was widely condemned, including by prominent Republicans.
