Himachal monsoon fury:157 dead, 259 roads closed

Rains continue to wreak havoc across Himachal Pradesh. As per the Department of Revenue, out of the total loss suffered, around Rs 615.85 crore has been lost by the Public Work Department (PWD) alone. Additionally, the Jal Shakti Vibhag has suffered a total loss of Rs 199.86 crore and the Power Department lost Rs 5.3 crore. The  State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC)  has given more deep report. as oer report, as many as 259 roads blocked across the state and landslides and rain-related incidents claiming 157 lives. Nearly 900 properties and public works have been damaged amid the relentless rainfall, with losses estimated around Rs 886 crore.  From June 30 to August 9, around 68 people died due to landslides and flash floods, while 89 others were killed in road accidents. Around 257 people are missing. In Kullu alone 56 roads closed, 5 transformers affected as rain batters district.

Landslides and landslips have left around 259 roads inoperable, including the crucial Mandi-Kullu highway. Mandi is the worst affected. At present,grappling with the dual challenge of restoring infrastructure while preparing for further spells of heavy rain.
