Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 430 crore in Jamnagar, reaffirming the state's commitment to urban transformation. The projects were launched as part of the ongoing celebrations marking 20 years since the first 'Urban Development Year' initiated by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2005. Sharing updates on social media platform X, CM Patel announced that the state government will celebrate the year 2025 as 'Urban Development Year' and that the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has already outlined a five-year development roadmap to enhance the city's infrastructure and improve the ease of living for its residents. These include community health centres, flyovers, smart schools, Anganwadis, and the upgradation of the Government Dental College, all of which will inject new vitality into the city’s development,” he posted.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the 352nd anniversary of his coronation, recalling his legacy of good governance, security, and public welfare as a timeless source of inspiration.
The event showcased a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving urban infrastructure, health, education, and civic amenities. The projects are part of a broader vision to transform Gujarat's urban centers into sustainable, citizen-friendly ecosystems.The Jamnagar projects are part of a wider development push by the Gujarat government.
A day earlier, CM Patel also inaugurated 13 projects worth Rs 343.39 crore and laid the foundation stones for 28 new initiatives valued at Rs 213.79 crore in Rajkot, bringing total development efforts there to Rs 557.18 crore. Addressing an event at the Pramukh Swami Auditorium in Rajkot, CM Patel reiterated that cities like Rajkot and Jamnagar are central to the state’s development agenda under the 'Urban Development Year' initiative. “These projects reflect the government’s determination to boost infrastructure, raise living standards, and carry forward the vision set in motion two decades ago,” he said.
